Gas connection
The procedure for connecting a house, flat or business premises to the gas network, the documents required and the cost of connection.
How to get gas: the connection procedure
Connecting to the existing network, step by step.
Checking whether connection is possible
Send us the address of the building by phone, email or in person. We will check whether the gas network runs along your street and under what conditions a connection is possible. The list of municipalities and the network map are on the Gas network page.
Energy approval and connection conditions
For buildings at the design stage we issue an energy approval and special and/or connection conditions. The designer uses them to prepare the gas installation design.
Connection application
Submit a connection application with the required documents. Based on the application we determine the technical solution and the connection fee.
Connection contract
We sign a contract for connection to the distribution system. Once the connection fee has been paid, we schedule the works.
Indoor gas installation
The installation is carried out by an authorised contractor, who notifies us before the works begin.
Service connection and gas meter
The service line from the street network to the gas cabinet is built by us or by an authorised connection contractor, and then we install the gas meter.
Testing and turning on the gas
The installation is tested by an authorised inspector. After a positive test report we let gas into the installation, and you sign a gas supply contract with the supplier of your choice, which completes the connection.
The duration depends on the type of building, the distance from the network and whether the documents are ready. For a building next to the existing network with documents in order, connection is usually completed within a few weeks. For an estimate in your case, call us on +385 49 226 426.
Required documents
The connection application is usually accompanied by:
- a completed and signed connection application,
- proof of ownership or another right to the building (e.g. a land registry extract),
- proof that the building is legal (building or occupancy permit, legalisation decision or another relevant document),
- a copy of the cadastral plan showing the building,
- for new buildings, a gas installation design prepared according to the issued conditions,
- the applicant's personal identification number (OIB) and, for companies, an extract from the court register.
The exact list of required documents is given in the application form. If you are not sure which documents you need, we recommend contacting us before you submit the application.
Connection fee
The fee for connection to the distribution system is set by a decision for the period 2022 to 2026. The amount depends on the type of connection and the conditions on site, and the exact amount is stated in the connection contract. The costs of the indoor gas installation and appliances are agreed directly with the authorised contractor.
Building reconstruction and renovation
Any reconstruction of a building that uses gas must involve qualified professionals. Take particular care with energy renovation: new PVC windows and insulation reduce the supply of fresh air, which gas appliances need for proper combustion.
- After replacing windows, have an authorised service technician check the appliances and the air supply.
- Cooker hoods and other extractors must not create negative pressure in a room with a gas appliance.
- The gas meter or service connection may only be moved with the consent of the distribution system operator.
- You must report any change to the gas installation or a gas appliance to the distribution system operator.
If you will not use gas during the works, you can ask for a temporary suspension of supply.
